| Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament |
A period of prayer of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament occurs most days Monday to Saturday at the High Altar. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed immediately following the 12.45 Mass and is deposed just before the 5.45 Mass. On Fridays during Choir term the time of Adoration concludes at 5.15pm with Vespers, the Evening Prayer of the Church and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament with the boy choristers of the Palestrina Choir. During this time of adoration we pray particularly for vocations to the priesthood for our Diocese.
THE DIVINE PRAISES Blessed be God. Blessed be his holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ true God and true Man. Blessed be the name of Jesus. Blessed be his most Sacred Heart. Blessed be his most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy. Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her glorious Assumption. Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. Blessed be Saint Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in his Angels and in his Saints.
Praying befor the Blessed Sacrament with.... Blessed John XXIII: Jesus is there, the Prisoner of love. Whether the tabernacle be poor or precious, Jesus is always there. Saint John Vianney, as he stood silently at the dwelling place of Jesus, his lips not even moving in prayer, said very simply "I look at Him, and I think He looks at me, and this feeds my soul, gives me strength." So there may be prayer, or even contemplation, in the mere gaze of the eyes. Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta: Nowhere on earth are you more welcome. Nowhere on earth are you more loved than by Jesus living and truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth. Pope John Paul II: It is pleasant to spend time with him, to lie close to his breast, like the Beloved Disciple (cf. Jn 13:25) and to feel the infinite love present in his heart. If in our time Christians must be distinguished above all by the "art of prayer", how can we not feel a renewed need to spend time in spiritual converse, in silent adoration, in heartfelt love before Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament? How often, dear brothers and sisters, have I experienced this, and drawn from it strength, consolation and support! (Ecclessia de Eucharistia)
